In the extreme environment of the internet it does seem quite rare to find anyone who has the opinion that both Israel and Hamas are to blame for the war and both are filled with extremists at the higher levels, rather than simply taking one side over another. Another similarity is that even a lot of Serbians who were supposedly anti Milosovich still argued that he should be tried domestically for corruption rather than by the ICC for his war crimes
I believe most rights experts consider it a crime against humanity, but not a genocide. The reasons why are above my pay grade, not being an expert myself
It’s really a legal question, which is why I cede it to actual rights experts. Whenever I make a statement to the effect that X is guilty of a crime against humanity or genocide, I’m relying on the judgment of experts. People like you and I are not really qualified to judge one way or the other. There’s a lot of case history which bears upon the usage of these terms.
I will point out that denial is the last step in any genocide. The number of Israelis breaking and admitting to it goes against the known pattern. This is still a very small number, but I think permissive structures are opening. But go look at the Maya genocide. Ask how many Guatemalans know of it? He’ll, Armenian genocide…it’s a well known pattern.

Things went from bad to worse in 2022 when Ben Gvir joined the government. This event helped pave the road to the disaster that followed.

The biggest driver of war crimes was the viewpoint that Israel could do whatever it wanted to Gazans as long as hostages were being held there.
